Building a Capsule Wardrobe from ORB and AV Summer Sale Items

We love a capsule wardrobe because it is synonymous with a versatile wardrobe. It means fewer clothes in your wardrobe but more options because of how many outfits you can make from your essential items. There are so many benefits to creating a capsule wardrobe – including having a concentrated, functional wardrobe that you know you enjoy wearing and feel confident in.

But we really love the idea of a capsule wardrobe because it builds a wardrobe based on the life you live. And we are all about that. Clothing should enhance your life, not hinder it. It should allow you to walk confidently into work but transition into dinner afterward. It should work from your home to that stunning French villa you'll spend two weeks at over the summer. Creating a capsule wardrobe means creating personal style for the life you live.

A capsule wardrobe is also a more sustainable way to live. If you are interested in why, read our original blog post on the subject here.

To catch you up a bit, here are the basics you need to know about building a capsule wardrobe:

  • Evaluate what you currently have in your current wardrobe.
  • Look for quality clothing by reading company reviews and details on how garments are made (such as using sustainable materials!). Note – price isn't always an indicator of quality pieces.
  • You should be able to make no fewer than five unique outfits - but the more the better!
  • Your goal should be to wear something at least 30 times.
  • Make sure it fits well by trying it on in person or looking at reviews or the company’s tagged photos on social media when shopping online.
  • Ask yourself if the style is something that can work for your life. Does it travel well, does it have easy care, is it appropriate for work?

Build a Capsule Wardrobe

Now, to the fun part! Let's help you create a capsule wardrobe from essential, timeless pieces from Aventura and Old Ranch Brands that are all under $50. Here are ten styles to start your capsule wardrobe:

Cypress Shirt

This woven shirt is a great button-front option and a versatile piece. Short sleeves make it casual, but the design can hold up for more outfit ideas than lunch with friends. Pair the window pane check with a high-waisted skirt for work. Or throw on jeans for more casual days. This is a classic piece!

Bindi Dress

One of our ambassadors took this dress on her recent trip to Italy, why? Because the style is sophisticated, flattering, comfortable, and easy to travel in. By pairing organic cotton with a kiss of spandex the fabric is breathable, stretchy, and has a great hand feel. Functional details, like pockets or the removable tie, make it functional, but the design is all style. Wear for special occasions and casual days.

Menlo Skort

Though technically athleisure, the Menlo Skort is so much more. The ultra-lightweight skort is made from a blend of 88% recycled polyester and 12% spandex which gives the skirt's wearer freedom to move. This makes it great for everything from hiking to casually strolling museums. The print elevates the look out of activewear (though, if you'd like a solid option check out the Hollis Skort) but isn't distracting or hard to pair with.

Spectra Top

Just because you are building your perfect capsule wardrobe, doesn't mean you can't include a print! The Spectra Top features a great print, too, that feels special enough for most occasions and settings. Throw a blazer over this top and pair it with slacks for work, or pair it with a summery short or jeans to wear off-duty.

Basis Top

Ah! The T-shirt – a humble but very necessary part of any wardrobe and this top is a great foundation piece. It is lightweight, soft, and breathable thanks to a cotton-rich fabric. A touch of spandex was added to enhance the stretch and drape of the Basis Top. Flattering princess seams allow for the feminine structure and relaxed fit to co-exist, creating shape without pulling tightly around you. The design is simple, clean, and easy to pair with anything.

Breeze Short

This might be the only short your summer capsule wardrobe needs. This one pair of shorts can handle all casual occasions with style. From the beach to travel, the lightweight hemp and TENCEL™ Lyocell blend will keep you comfortable. Reviewers love the adjustable tie waistband and we love the pockets.

Devonne Tank

Solid, flattering, and sustainable. This tank top is versatile and perfect to create outfits for work, summer, casual days, and nights out. The slub cross-woven fabric, which lends the top a heathered appearance, elevates this from a basic tank which is why it can keep up for date nights and work just as easily as farmers' markets and coffee runs.

Lupin Dress

This is the perfect everyday dress. We love the pockets on this dress, though there is so much to love. Enjoy a feminine Y-neck paired with the tailored look of a collar and button-front. The waist tie, which is removable, allows you to cinch the waist and show off your beautiful figure. With 36.5" of length, this dress is appropriate for get-togethers, running errands, and work.

Savita Solid Short

Casual and comfortable, this short is a great staple in any wardrobe. It can go from morning walks to the beach to lounging at home. Plus the organic cotton, recycled polyester fabric is sustainable, easy to care for, and reliable – you won't have to worry about shrinkage or wrinkles.

Camilla Top

This top is great because it can go from work to dinner effortlessly. The swiss dot fabric adds a lot of interest, elevating this from a standard collared shirt. The sustainable fabric is made from 97% TENCEL™ Modal, which gives this shirt a silky, melt-in-your-fingers softness that feels luxurious.
